i live in california..

so..if i drive the car around anyways, will i get a ticket??

if so, is there any way that i can drive that car w/o getting a ticket?? [at least until i get that cover thing put back on]

thanks!!

I'm pretty sure now that all states are requiring a front and a rear license plate. Seeing as you 'had' one before, then I'm going to assume CA does require this.

Yep. If a cop wants to he/she can give you a ticket for this.
I have sometimes put my license plate on the dashboard (facing out by the base of the windshield).... You could at least say you are trying to display it.

It would depend on the officer. Some might just look at you oddly and say "get it fixed"... but yes, it could be a ticketable offense.

Yes, you can be stopped and ticketed for not having a front license plate in California. You might get away with it if you you just got the car and you have a temporary reg in the windshield or just put your plate on the dash and that works for most cops if you don't have somewhere to attach it.

Yes in California a front license plate is required. Wife got a ticket 2 years ago for not having her front plate displayed.

The front plate must be visible, and cops in California do ticket for not having the plate.

You can call the DMV in your area and ask if it's illegal. I know in NC we don't require a front bumper license plate but they do in VA and in VA you can get a ticket for it.
