What does fire do to air? It heats it up.

The curse of fire and air is earth rising. This is so common I can barely think of an exception. Rising is the aspect of who you see as attractive. You should find the air attractive but not so much so the fire. If these two are not attractive then I would say your rising is not air but something else. I have found about 50% of the supposed rising sign are incorrect. This is so easy to measure as simply check the Sun sign of who you see as beautiful. This is really easy to do using celibrities and IMDB.com An example of this is most believe George Bush to be Leo rising in spite of the fact he lacks the majesty of such. He is Cancer rising which explains so much about him and his water sign wife.

Astrology has very little to do with who you're compatible with. You should look at other reasons that you are attracting certain people or being attracted to certain people- it usually has to do with your background. Astrology began several thousand years ago, and since then, even though the start move slowly over time, they have not changed the birth dates that match certain signs. So most people aren't even the "sign" they think they are, because the stars are no longer in that pattern.

Where is your mars? A conjunction of your mars and someone elses venus is a strong passionate aspect. Your ideal marriage partner would have planets in sagittarius and your 7th house. Look to people who have planets in your 5th house for fun and romance.
