This silly notion is simply the result of some people noticing that the Maya calendar rolls over in 2012; that is, it will be back to year 1.

A calendar does not control the fate of the universe.

And no one uses the Mayan calendar anymore.

The Aztec calendar did so some people think they knew something. Or maybe they just got tried of writing dates for a a calendar thousands of years ahead.

the sun's not big enough to form a supernova, but it will burn the earth to a cinder before it dies. regardless, that ain't happening in 2012.
