It sounds like you do not have any drivers installed on your computer for your CD drive. Go to your drive and right click on it. Go to properties and then to the hardware tab. It should tell you if your device is working properly. To check for drivers, go to properties in the hardware tab and check your driver status by selecting driver details in the driver tab. It will show the current drivers that you have for the device. Also, what type of drive you you have? is it a burner? CD drives automatically install, but if it is a burner, then you may need to install it. If it says your device is working properly in the hardware tab then it is installed.
I hope that helped.

Internal CD/DVD players and recorders generally operate off the Windows drivers and don't require other drivers to be installed. Roxio is not a driver, it is just a software program used to play the CD.

Do you have Windows Media Player installed on your computer? If you do, then try playing the CD with that software.

It's been my unfortunate experience that when the computer no longer recognizes (or finds) your CD, it's time to replace the drive.

Did your cd drive work previously?
1. check your cd cable and connection.
2. change with other's cd drive to test it.(if it doesn't work, your cd drive is broken down)
3. check your driver from Device Manager, sometimes it corrupted or damaged by some software.
4. check AutoStart CD option from BIOS setting.

Hope a bit help.
