I think the mistake most social sciences make is to make too many assumptions about the sameness of people, i.e. the myth debunked in the news today that certain genders talk more, etc. etc.
There is no one way that men look at themselves. Some men - say the Dalai Lama - work on having no self-image whatsoever, and instead concentrate on their unity to all other things. Some men tie their self image to cars or possessions. Yet others define themselves by family, or success at work, or some complex array of the above.
I suppose someone very tall or very small might have a self-image that is acutely aware of their size. For men of average height, this might not occur so often.
There is no one answer to this question.

Yes, both men and women do feel inadequate at different times. I know that I feel inadequate with some of the things I see and hear about.
Guess that as far as size goes, I know by observing men that they will attempt to cover up any inadequacies with bravado and being macho. When a guy is overly macho and arrogant, you have to start wondering......
I'm not saying that to be mean, it's just an observation, but if you're a guy and worried about your size, it won't matter one iota if you are a good lover.

do you mean how much does his self-image relate to his size? and how important that is to him.
Most men want to be the fastest, biggest, smartest...but we all know we can't be. So as children hopefully the man learns to live with being above average in some areas, below average in others.
Then again, concerns about size tend to go away when your girlfriend is screaming at you during love, "OMG, you xxxx so good!" ;-)
Reminds me of the joke about the couple married 50 years - then one day she thumps him on the head with a newspaper. "That's for 50 years of bad sex!" He thinks a minute, then thumps her back. "And that's for knowing the difference!"
Ya don't really know if you are small or large unless you are looking at other guys' packages - and why would you want to do that? =)

It's not the size of the tool, but how you use it.
Having a big package does not help if you are as dumb as a brick.
Girls like to be romanced, sweep off their feet.
And YES, IT ALL IN THE KISSING too!
So guys versed in these multiple skills are few and hard to find. I'm happily married and my image depends on the happiness of my wife. In and out of the bedroom.
A bouquet of flowers, kind words, a kiss on the nape of the neck , has more orgasmic power then any supersized wang!

5 foot 10 and a size 10/12 is fabulous you must look great. I am only 5 foot 5 and in a size 12 and although I don't always feel comfy with it I am not overweight so you are not. I bet you look great.

I bet it varies. I know my size boosts my self image a bit. But it probably doesn't have as much effect as the size of their own boobs/butt do to women.
In any case, everyone is different when it comes to their own body and their self image.

It is an absolute obsession for many (not all) but many men.
Have u ever checked out the "mens health" category?
Every question is to whether they're tall enough, or endowed enough.
To which I always reply...
We really don't care 'bout the size of your c0ck,
just make sure your tongue is the best on the block!

nah, men are men. They have their own way of looking at things, no matter their "size". I think women put more of a pressure on men to be big, not men. Feelings of inadequacy come in all forms, men and women alike.
