but the asker only gives you a couple star rating...?...you feel somehow less than best as a result..

Don't take it personal. Even though you've probably given the absolute best answer possible, some people just like to rate for no other reason that they are on a bit of a control trip. Some answers deserve low ratings, but not all. Despite all this, a best answer...is still a best answer!

Hmmm...I'm usually so excited when I get a "best" answer that I don't pay attention to how many stars I get. Just focus on that you were considered the "best" out of the answers given. When I pick a "best" answer, I usually don't know how many stars to give. Their answer is what I picked as "best" so why does the amount of stars matter? Enjoy the extra 10 points.

I agree, I would rather recieve nothing. I suppose you can look at it as your answer sucked the least. Like you said though, I would prefer nothing. I am not doing this for points anyway. Yahoo points along with $5 will get me lunch at McDonalds.

I don't even notice the stars, when I get best answer, I'm way too dazzled, by the thought of what I can do, with all those points...oh wait.... never mind.

I really dont care about stars or best answer... because i get best answers for my worst answers and then nothing for a really well, thought out answer... so who cares?
