My voice trembles. I could talk in front of people I have known for years and are comfortable with but my voice still trembles. How do I get it under control?

Once you start getting up in front of others on a regular basis, it will start to get better. What it sounds like is that you are putting yourself in front of other people instead of your character. Whenever you get up to do an excercise or read from a play, make up a character to become, and convince yourself that its the character who's acting and not you. As you begin to separate the two, you should become more comfortable. And remember its o.k. for people in the class to judge your characters, because that's how you will get better. Your classmates know there is a difference between who you are as a person and who the character is you're playing.

This is typical. I understand this completely. The very vague answer I could give is that the more you perform, the more comfortable you will be. I was in my school musical as Anita from West Side Story. If you just ham it up and do what you love, you'll have fun and you'll really feel like nobody is there. If that doesn't do it, then what I do is look straight into the spotlight or at the back wall while doing facial expressions so you don't have to make eye contact with anyone. Hope that helps!

I'll bet your voice gets higher too, right? And your throat hurts if you speak for very long? Nerves can make your vocal cords tighten. You must relax your throat and try to speak from lower in your stomach. I know that sounds crazy, but you will feel it when you are doing it-alas the only real remedy is to keep doing it until you get more comfortable speaking in front of people. If you control the way you are speaking, like I mentioned earlier, this will help as well. Try reading to younger people. It is sometimes easier when they are smaller. I am an acting teacher-by the way.

It's a psychological thing and I went through it myself. Only by talking in front of people over and over and becoming more self confident in ones personal abiltiy and worth, can this be overcome. Some call it stage fright, I call it a monster that my mind created and all monsters I create I can destroy.....using my advice, I eventually did win the war, but, it took years for me.

You are focusing on yourself, and on the people watching you. That is perfectly natural, but is not the best approach.

Focus on what you are saying. Focus on what you want to communicate. You are not there for yourself, but to communicate something useful and important. Focus on getting your point across.

This is true if you are giving a speech, explaining a project to the class, or playing a role on stage.

Coming from a long time stage performer, all you have to do is take a simple monologue and say it to a small group of friends to build up you confidence. After that make the groups bigger and the monologues more difficult. Before you know it you'll be on Broadway. Good Luck!:)

Pray to God First... ask him to guide you in your acting class.

and then put a coin in your shoe..

CLose your eyes..

Breathe

Speak..

and Way to go..

Trust your self.. don't lose you confidence.. acting focuses in confidence.. if you lose your confidence.. you'll be a loser in acting.,
