I have been taking clomid for 3 cycles. This last cycle they put me on 100mg instead of 50 mg. My level was within normal range last month but at the low end. This month they told me my progesterone level was 0.9 and they want me at 20. Has anyone ever heard of such a low level on a test that was done on CD21? I can't find anything like it anywhere on the net. Even for people with advanced fertility issues.
Also, from what I have read when you have low progesterone you should have a shorter menstrual cycle and last month I was given provera to start my period because it never came. I assumed this month my period would come sooner because the level was so low and I am on CD33 with no period. Anyone have any ideas on why that may be occuring?
Any help is appreciated!!!! Thank you!!!!

The low level of progesterone indicates that you have not ovulated (yet).
It can mean two things to me:
1. you have not ovulated and won't ovulate == clomid did not work for you this month
2. you might ovulate later than day 14 and hence your low progesterone level
I tell you this because I was on clomid last month and ovulated on cd21: my RE was checking my hormone levels and doing U/S every other day and found out that I was reacting slowly to the meds.

Ok, this is normal but it means you did not ovulate. After ovulation progesterone is secreeted in high amounts to get the lining of the uterus ready for the embryo to implant but if you don't conceive then the progesterone level drops about 2 weeks past ovulation and the lining is shed. If you have low progesterone then it means it is above the level of showing ovulation but drops too quickly and doesn't allow the embryo time to implant--less than the normal 2 weeks. Anything under 10 days from ovulation to period is considered a defect and progesterone is usually given orally or vaginally.
If you don't ovulate, the lining of the uterus doesn't build up and the progesterone doesn't rise and then fall 2 weeks later to start a bleed. No ovulation=no period.
They will probably give you Provera again and up your dose of clomid again.
