I don't know about you, but I think the movies are kinda mediocre. They're ok, but could be much better. More for making money than capturing the works onto screen. It fails to capture the magic as LOTR did. The actors that JK Rowling herself suggested were McGonagall and Hagrid, who in my opinion were great choices. But what about the rest? I think the three main characters (Harry, Ron, and Hermione) were alright. Sometimes lack of acting experience shows through, and Ron looks nothing at all as described in the books except the red hair. He's not tall, long, and lanky. Hemiones hair needs to be bushier. But let's face it. Lupin, Sirius, and Moody don't even come. Lupin should get rid of facial hair, he doesn't seem anything close to Lupin. Why not someone else like Stephen Dillane? I think Hugh Jackman rather reminds me of Sirius, but he's Australian. I don't know about Moody. grey hair, thin, wooden leg, glass eye, not plastic. Who do you think would make an ideal cast?

It's not just the looks, but the overall quality of the movies. It needs more work. People on the cast and crew who genuinely want to portray the spirit of the books. It's hard to see books as movies with the LOTR trilogy and what Peter Jackson, Richard Taylor and WETA workshop/digital and the cast did for it. And what lengths and sacrifice they made to make the best it could possibly be (especially making it with such short time, not in hollywood, but New Zealand). Everything in the movie was hand-crafted, even the candles, the chairs, the building were even built (some obviously bigatures, can't really build the tower baradur can you?). Anyways my point is they just don't seem to give the movies justice, don't draw you in and force you to really feel like you know the characters. Make your feel as if you are being pulled into to the world of Hogwarts like LOTR makes you feel, "I'm in Middle Earth". It seems more like "Hollywood", if you get what I mean.

Hm... on some aspects I can agree with you. The actors don't fit the exact image given in the book. I do believe, as you do, the Hagrid and McGonagall are the perfect choices for the role. Hermione, in the beginning, fit the role. However, upon growing up, her hair has become less bushy. Harry, if he gave it 110% in his acting, he could be the perfect harry. And Ron, I don't know. I've grown to love all the characters so it is difficult to think of anyone different to play his role. But I see what you're saying. Sirius has the nose and the greasy black hair, the villanous look. Moody, he's an iffy character choice. Maybe someone else could have pulled the role of better. And Lupin. The actor playing his role really did disappoint me. He wasn't all that great looking as imagined in the book. But, as said before. I do understand where you are coming from.

i agree, i like the way hagrid and McGonagall looks. I think they could have done a lot better with ron and hermione. idk harry looks pretty on the money there. sirius looks okay but he needs to be more dirty. I loved the first dumbledore, but the new one stinks i've never been more excited to know that he will die in the 6th one. i think moody is pretty good for the part also. They could have done a lot better with everybody. I've seen a lot of look alikes for harry potter that should have been in the stars places. (ps dolloris umbridge could have been more fat and toad like for the new movie also. She is too skinny and not enough fat in the face.)

as for the people they cast. do you seriously think they could find people who looked exactly like the characters in the book. I personally am a huge fan of the movies and think they are awesome and think all the characters compiment each other really well. You have to remember what you picture in your mind and who they cast are always gonne be totally different. I can't wait until the 11th!

Yeah, I didn't think Lupin, Sirius, and Moody were chosen well at all. I don't really know who could play them though...I don't know many British actors.
