I'm trying to find something that'll make my computer run like it was brand-new. At the same time, I don't want to get rid of my wireless internet connection. Is there something out there for me?

You can reformat your computer with the operating system installation disk. Yes, this will bring you back to when you computer was new.
Drawbacks: if you do not transfer your files to a removable media (CD, flashdrive) - everything will be gone.
Windows updates must be reinstalled.
All of the software you installed after you bought the computer must be reinstalled.
You will not loose your Internet connection unless it requires some type of special software.
The biggest thing is reinfection - it would be wise to install at least two layers of spyware detection software - Spybot Search and Destroy - AdAware, etc.

There are several great system utility suites available which can restore much of your computer's previous performance. Over time, your computer collects obsolete files and registry keys which can slow down your computer. System utility suites scans your computer for such obsolete files and keys. It can then delete them and recover hard drive space and computer speed. These programs can do alot more than just clean. They can optimize settings on your computer to make it work faster and better, including Internet connection speed. By far the best I have come across is TuneUp Utilities 2007. It is not free but it does come with a free 30 day trial period. During this trial period, the software is fully functional - no crippleware. It is very easy to use. It will ask you some questions about how you use your computer and it will do the rest. Here is the download link (http://www.tune-up.com/products/tuneup-utilities/).

Here are 3 programs you should run, and they are free:

Adaware
Spybot
ccleaner

Just google them on the web to find them.

You should also go to Start-Programs-Accessories-system tools and run Disc Cleanup and Disc Defragmenter. That should help a lot.
