Watch Big Love on HBO! It's funny. Old boy pops Viagra like it's candy. Anyway, polygamy, like any other relationship is something that should be between the people involved and their God. Not for other people to decide.
And for all of you people that believe God wanted only one man and one woman to be married, then why did he support, and bless, Abraham, Jacob, Moses and David? And why are there rules to polygamy in the Bible?
Exodus 21:10 where the status of the first wife is not to be diminished.
Deuteronomy 21:15-17 That says you can't pass over the firstborn son, even if you like the second wife more.
Deuteronomy 17:17 That says a king cannot take too many wives.
Heck Martin Luther said there was no prohibition against it in the Bible. And Saint Augustine said that it only went against Roman law, not scripture.
So I don't understand this resistance to the concept from a biblical perspective. At least be honest and say that you are too jealous to share your spouse. Me? I can't handle one woman, what would I do with two or three? But I don't see the problem with it if others consent to the idea.

Polygamy reduces women to the status of cattle or dogs or objects to be owned. Marriage is a two way street, not three, four, or more, ways. Women are not possessions. Secondly, I have six daughters and notice that they do not share well; but when they get together and decide to select somebody for one of their little human sacrifice ceremonies I find business in another county for a few days. I am their father, but there are six of them, and I can only shoot so many before the others get me.

I just read some new research that said that it's great for women and terrible for men. Women can share the support, for themselves and their kids, of a rich man. Bill Gates or Donald Trump could support 100 wives and 3-4 kids from wife much more lavishly than most guys can support one wife with a few kids.
OTH, while some men, like Bill and Donald, could make out like bandits, most young men would never have a chance at a wife and family because they couldn't afford one. Have you heard about the teenaged boys who're exiled from the polygamous clans? One researcher even blames the Moslem suicide bombers on a polygamous society that makes men expendable.

I think that anything that happens between safe, sane, consensual adults is fine.
Personally, I'm probably too insecure to be comfortable in a polygamous relationship, but that doesn't mean I think other people are bad for being in one.
ETA: people are assuming that polygamy means one man and multiple women. Keep in mind it can go either way, folks! :)

I am okay with it, I would never do it, but the if other want to do it, that's okay. I am not going to bash people because they have different beliefs than me or even a different God....that's just ignorant. My problem with it is the many problems that are associated with it...abuse, control, young wives and mothers, incest, 30 children in one home, etc.

Most religions are against polygamy. If you are Christian or Catholic, or Jewish, you are committing a sin by being polygamous.

I think it is completely wrong!
As the anti-gay-marriage brigade so tiresomely points out, the bible says ONE man and ONE woman.
No man can keep 2 women happy--one of them always gets the shaft. And it promotes treating women as PROPERTY!
There is absolutely NO reason for it in the modern world.

Disgusting. True love does not come in multiples.
I don't say that marriage equals a man+ a woman or anything like that...but true love=two people.

Polygamy is STUPID. God intended for each of us to have 1 spouse, not several.
