1. False. Although that is usually true, there are new areas developing all of the time. Look at what the law & the Internet have done. There was no real common law for the internet. Property law did not suffice, even though it was frequently applied. For more on this subject, read some of the writings of Prof. Ned Snow at the University of Arkansas Fayetteville School of Law.
2. FALSE - Jurisdiction is defined by both State and Federal Statutes.
3. FALSE - see above.

I recommend that you read both your state's and the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
