I heard that if the baby's heartbeat is over 160 beats per minute, its a girl and if its less then its a boy. Is there any truth to this?? My babys heartbeat is about 180 beats a minute

It's not a proven way to find out the sex of the baby. But later in pregnancy they say that is a good way to figure it out....third trimester. They say that if in the third trimester the baby's heartbeat is above 160 it's a girl and below is boy. But my friends due in 4 weeks and the baby's heartbeat is around 170 and it's a boy. So i don't think it's a reliable method.

While yes, it is an old wives tale, and no, it isn't 100% accurate, I have found from my experience as a labor nurse that the trend is generally true (at least towards the end of pregnancy). Boys are usually 110-130 whereas girls are more often 140-160.

I think if it's below or above 140.

My daughter has had a BPM of 140+ continually throughout this pregnancy (27 weeks). But it's different for everyone. And as the name states it's an old wives tale and should be taken with a grain of salt and not relied on as true fact.

That is why it is called a wives tale, because it isn't true.

Both of my boys had a heart beat of over 160.

im not sure about which was round it is but my midwife told me that my babies heartbeat sounded like a girls (although i already knew i was having a boy!lol) but she did say she can usualy determine the sex from the speed of heartbeat just by listening to it (which i did think was quite weird) but she has over 30 years experience and actually delivered me when i was born!

It was true for my pregnancy, my daughter's heartbeat was always over 160. My doctor said it was because she was so active and that when she slept it would be lower. It's really not true.

i do not know about that one but if you want to determine the baby's sex, you can get a bottle of liquid draino and pour it in the toilet (just about half) then pee in it. if the color of the draino changes then you are having a boy. if it stays the same it is a girl. (because the hormones are stronger in boys the color changes. the hormones are not as strong in girls so the color stays the same) i did that for both of my pregnancies and it worked.. and i know at least 12 women who i suggested it to and it worked for them too... you don't have anything to loose except for the 4.00 the draino costs.. good luck!

Its 140 and no. If it was then I should have had a boy, not a girl. its just a fun thing we do to pass time untill we can find out. Good luck though.

Usually girls have more beats per minute but its not a reliable source for knowing that it is one sex or the other.

No truth, sorry! My first baby had 170 bpm and my 2nd daughter (pregnant now) is usually around 140 bpm.
