why is everyone so concerned that I don't wear shorts?

I hate shorts and I refuse to wear them. with the 100+ degrees everyones in shorts, i rather were pants, My
friends are like bugging me to put some shorts on. then I walk
in my house and then my sister starts, and telling me to put some shorts on. now my Mom is yelling at me for wearing pants and she wants to take me shopping for some shorts
in a few minutes, why can't they leave me alone

well i'm 14
I don't like shorts because they look like underwear and people stare at your legs
should I go shopping with my MOm ?

Wear whatever is most comfortable to you but just make sure that your not complaining about it being to hot. It could get annoying if someone talks about how hot it is and does nada about it. you know?

at the end of the day it is your choice and your choice alone. I do admit I think it is odd that you don't like shorts. At your age that's all I wanted to wear.

Have you tried cropped pants? Or maybe the long knee lenth bermudas? Or maybe skirts? Not really sure why they look like underwear to you.

You shouldn't be concerned what your mom and sister feel. If you are OK in 100+ weather wearing pants, that's your deal.

I'm the exact opposite! I hate pants. Anyways, you don't have to wear those gross short shorts, you can get bermudas at a number of different places. Abercrombie, Hollister, Old Navy, Forever 21, etc. Just in case you don't know, bermudas are the kind of long shorts that go right above your knees. Maybe they're bugging you because they don't want you to die of heat stroke or something like that.

No offense, but how dare they tell you to wear some shorts if you don't want to wear it? Your friends are absolutely ridiculous to care about what you're wearing. No offense to your mother, but I am surprised she's acting this way too. Usually, moms want to encourage their children, but to force them? especially on a issue about shorts. Just ridiculous! You seriously need to tell everyone that you rather not wear shorts because you don't want too and that's that! If you don't feel comfortable wearing shorts, buy some capri jeans. There are those jeans that come up to your knees or even ankles. They are no more than $15-20 bucks! Or if you want to save money, just roll up the bottom part of your jeans folding them nice and neatly to make them come up to your ankles and wear sandals to give it a summer look!

Because in 100+ degree weather it goes beyond being "I don't like the feel" to dangerous if you don't. Pants keeps sweat in and doest allow the breeze to go through and makes things warmer. That can be a problem with heat stroke and dehydration to name just a couple. Skirts (even long ones) do a good job in cooling people down so if you don't like the look of your legs, try going for a long skirt. There are many that are cool and not "girly" if that's a concern.

I don't wear shorts either. You could try wearing them around the house, and then slip a pair of pants on when u go out. or try a skirt. If neither of these work try combats or other kinds of loose trousers. If they keep annoying you, just say to them. Y r u tryin 2 change hu I am?? or just ignore them.

I see no reason to wear shorts. I don't because of a religious thing with me...

BUT, I beat the heat by wearing a skirt.

You could also wear cropped pants - I mean, at least you could bark back that you are meeting them half way!

Ignore them...that sounds like when i was younger and kids bothered me about not wearing jeans & sneakers...heck shorts leave you open to the sun & heat more than thin slacks. Tell them all even your family that you're not slutty showing yourself for some guys to get you some

their probably just concerned about you. because when you wear long pants in the summer, your body gets really heated and you could faint or something due to the heat. but if you are really forced to wear shorts, maybe you could wear leggings under it or something to show less skin.

If you're comfortable in pants then let them complain. Your comfort matters more than their opinions. If they insist, meet them halfway and get a pair of capris.
