My big fear about government sponsored single payer health insurance is that if it were enacted, conservatives would forever be cutting funding of it as "entitlement spending" and we'd never really get a good functional system. Kind of like how they short change veterans hospitals now.

They complain that government will screw things up and then they ensure that government does screw it up.

Nicholasraage, call it whatever you want. We already have socialized medicine in medicare and it is the most efficiently run medical program in the world. The AMA is even running ads to urge congress to maintain funding for it.

There's an old saying...

Democrats say government works, but when they get elected they always prove themselves wrong.

Republicans say government doesn't work, and when they get elected they always prove themselves right.

It is just a sign of how stupid this tea party thing is ! They have fallen for the the REPUBLIKLAN CONN ! Just like millions of Americans who repeat the crap they hear from the drunk and the drug addicted tv and radio puppets .As the communist already knew and the REPUBLIKLANS have discovered propaganda works on the WEAK MINDS of THE INSECURE ,THE IGNORANT AND THE RACIST .America is in deep $hit because of these people . Their numbers are increasing and before long they may be large enough in numbers to put that bunch of REPUBLIKLANS back in office so that they can finish dismantling the American dream . America's economic greatness is what made America what she has been in the world . A country where the standard of living was the highest in the world . A champion of human existence . A place where the people of the world felt that if they could just get to America their lives would be so much better . Now even some of the illegal s are going back home because Mexico represents much more hope for them than America did .It is scary to think that extreme capitalism may be just as bad as communist or worst . Too much of a good thing is just as bad too much of a bad thing .It is good to eat pie but if you ate it 24/7 it would make you sick ! Capitalism is the best system that man has but extremely greedy capitalist are giving the average Americans a belly ache ! The sad thing is that IT IS GOING TO GET WORST ! Look at the things being parroted by supporters of the REPUBLIKLANS .government is too big. Lets look at what they are really saying is ........the government is stopping me from raping the country,The government is making me hire minorities, the government is stopping me from dumping waste into the rivers. the government is stopping me from abusing my employees .the government won't let ME use information that I have, that no one else has, so I can artificially jack up the price of stocks and make a killing when I sale my stock, The government won't let me cheat ! All of the things that government does to protect the public is getting in the way of me making a killing while the whole country's economy go's Straight to hell . REPUBLIKLANS dismantled most of the protections and government let these people do some of these things and now look at where we are ! TO THE PEOPLE WHO DISAGREE, THIS IS A RANT ..............SO WHAT ! IT IS ALSO THE TRUTH !

It is Socialism ! It will never work in a FREE SOCIETY, why do you think our Medicare system is going under now , because the Government is in charge , Liberals & Consevatives !!!!! ? The government is in charge of it , Here`s Your Sign ?Good American Doctors will go into private practice so they won`t be affected by all the beaurocracy, red tape , and fraud that goes with any "Program " that the Government tells` you they know better than you how to take care of you and your family.... NOT !! Just ask France & Great Britain ; and then you have to bring in "DOCTORS" from other countries to suppliment the Government Sponsored Health Care "to fill the doctor void ! I`m sure Great Britain is second guessing their decision to allow " Foreign Doctors " to come into their country . I guess the foreign doctors can make more by blowing up air terminals , and who knows what devious deeds they are doing to patients in the hospitals , all in the name of allah !! No Thanks , just give me good old fashioned American Doctors that I pay for , like it is supposed to be !!

I worry that medical care will become complacent and beaurocratic, bogged down even more than it already is with paperwork and for lack of a better word, gluttony. On the other hand it would help some segments but still, I don't want to become just a number to my doctor.

Nope. I am knowledgeable enough to know that the Conservatives will do everything in their power to save us from Socialism, as in Universal Health-Care. I guess you don't mind that your very ill, or dying child must wait in a 3 week line to see a doctor, like they do in England, but I do. I want my child to live, no matter how much money it costs me! I think human lives mean more than the almighty dollar!

is government sponsorship, a nice way of saying socialization of medicine?

It would "screw up" medical treatment in general.

Are you unaware of the downward spiral in the quality, of health care when it becomes socialized? Just look at any country who has it to see what will happen. Look at canada. They wait for months/ years to get treatment because of the mess of socialized care.

Why don't you pay for your own health care, and I'll pay for mine. Let the government provide the things that we can not provide for ourselves, as our founding fathers suggested.

You'd have to be an idiot to not realize that socialization of health care would be an absolute disaster.

Here are a few of the basics:

-everyone with a runny nose would be at the doctor, making it impossible to get needed treatment.

-fewer of our brightest minds would become doctors or medical scientists because the lure of free enterprise profit would no longer exist. This would lead to both, less competent doctors, and less discoveries in medical research, preventing/prolonging disease cures in the future.

-taxes would be greatly increased to pay for the health care of all the runny nose people, who don't have jobs.

---------

so you are saying the most recent republican written medicare plan is the best socialization plan in the world? Then why do the democrats want to destroy it?

Medicare is MEANT to be for emergency use. Not a health plan for the lazy. If we put the entire country on medicare, our taxes would go to 70% of our income. Not very efficient, seeing how most of the working class could afford private health coverage for much cheaper than that.

Conservatives will never support a government health insurance plan.

No I fear the liberals taking it and running with it and trying to get other socialized programs going. Once they succeed, we'll be putting a sickle and hammer on our flag in no time.

No i think the liberals will screw it up before the conservatives even get the opportunity to.

Don't worry. Conservatives only care about their own rich people. They would not be able to make money, so there would never be a Universal Health Care sponsored by Republicans...

I see both sides as screwing things up. When it comes to anything of this magnitude, I can't imagine our Federal government being capable enough to handle it.

I'm a conservative.
