People say the US is a terrible country. They say it's not a "free" country becuase we can't go out smoke dope and in a few years you might not be able to just get rid of an unborn baby because you don't want it. People are also saying that the US is dangerous and every single day another terrorist attack happens. We haven't been attacked since 9/11 and the government has stopped serveral plots. Also, the other day at after the 4th of July parade I was able to go up to my congressman and tell him I didn't think he was representing our area by the way he votes. I doubt in many other countries you can do that. So do you think people have just forgotten that they are safe and have all of these liberties, or do you think they're mad because they can't go out get married to 2 guys and a girl and celebrate by doing WHATEVER they want?

Yes, I'm sick as hell of it !
I say, send all these whinny-assed idiots to a third-world country for a few years, and then see how much they appreciate our freedoms and safety. For many years I have said that we need to bring back the Draft, or have a National Service law like Israel's, where men and women both serve a couple of years, and then have their education paid for. Ours would be more expansive than theirs, as we are so much larger of a nation, and would include "Peace Corps" and missionary type service as well as military training.
The main thing we lost when the draft was ended, was that everyone got to go out of the "States", and see how people lived in Asian and European countries, and virtually Nobody came home unimpressed by how much better-off we are than most of the world. Of course, the standard of living, and the median income have improved immensely since the sixties, but we are still way above 99.9% of the world,( despite our lack of a National Health Plan). OK, My share of this Rant is over !
Thanks for asking this question !

TL;DR As much as I detest that phrase, it really is and I really didn't(well, at least not most of it). We don't have evidence against God, but there is no evidence FOR God. If we have to have evidence against something, logically you could make any claim and it wouldn't matter how utterly batshit insane it was, it'd have to be considered a possibility. For instance, I have a 75 foot tall purple elephant. Now disprove me. Can't do it can you? The scientific principle that explains the lack of belief in God is the burden of proof. Theists make a truly spectacular claim and then offer no support for it, at least not any support that meets a scientific standard. It's kind of offensive when people not only say, but believe I deserve to be tortured for eternity. I don't think anyone deserves that fate, yet they say we all deserve that fate. That's why I get offended. I also can't understand why anyone would want to follow a God with such a callous disregard for humanity. About the separation of Church and state cases, it's not our fault we notice this kind of stuff. However, you can be damn certain if it was a Muslim monument or whatever, the Christians would be right along side atheists asking for it's removal. No, eliminating religion would in no way eliminate war. It would get rid of a bullshit justification for a war though. Instead of saying this is for God, you have to declare your actual selfish motives, or find another bullshit reason.

Just smile and enjoy yourself when you go into the mall and can find and afford to buy things for yourself and your family. Enjoy the rights and freedoms to express your thoughts without fear of death or torture by your government, Enjoy the freedom to move from state state without having to present your papers at every checkpoint, enjoy the chances you have to work a good job, Oh, and never forgoet to thank the men and women who gave their lives to get you these rights and freedoms.

And if we just opened the borders to all comers, half the world would be here in less than a week...and would be thrilled to get here.
So we basically all just ignore what the rest of the world says...and, naturally, that pisses 'em off even more.

I actually enjoy hearing critiques on our country, although I have not heard the comments that you have mentioned. We all agree that we need change, in one form or another. I think there's lots of conspiracy here, there, and everywhere. Let's just be proud to be Americans.

It IS dangerous in many places. It's not too terrible a place to live though we have a lot of issues to work out. Crime, poverty, unemployment, education, and healthcare just to name a few.

We are more free than other nations ,but things could improve based on idealistic nature. Its just that people see problems and people are apt to want problmes fixed. Nobody's perfect and we don't claim to be.

Wait until you get hit by this system then I will like to know your opinion.
Just look at all these people who committed offenses and were given immunity. And think about the people who are in jail serving a long sentence for a petty thing.

I do agree, U.S. is a good place to live. esp. when you hear how other cultures or countries our like. we are extremely blessed. and people need to learn you can't get everything. You need rules, and regulations or our country would be a complete mess, a total disaster.

I'm not sure where you're from, but America is not safe. We have the highest murder and crime statistics of any other democratic nation. As for being free - freedom is based on perception.
