I was wondering instead of stealing internet. Can't I create a profile on my wireless of my paid-internet computer and sue that internet? Or do U need a router? I have a Linksys, Phone router thing. I can't find the SSID from this computer so I can use that info for my laptop.

I can only guess what you want to do.

I presume you have Internet from either DSL or CATV (cable). You have a wireless notebook and apparently some other pcs. You want all to access the internet.

Having said that, you will need a router and a wireless access point OR a wireless router.

The modem feeds its Internet signal into the router WAN via either cross or straight cat5 cable. The pcs connect either wirelessly or via straight cat 5 cable.

A phone router is actually a dial up modem used by several pcs; it is not suitable for broadband access and because it is not wirelessly capable there is no ssid broadcast.
