you can choose your form of anesthesia, just talk to the surgeon or the anesthesiologist the night before the surgery.

Nitrous is from back in the old days. You will not be given that and believe me you do not want it. I've had a pudendal block with my first and didn't with my second and didn't notice any sort of difference. A pudendal block will only be given right before you deliver. Good luck with the spinal.. a lot of places don't do them.. consider yourself lucky you get the choice of an epidural. The hospital in my city doesn't even offer them. You get the choice of maybe a TENS unit or an interthecal narcotic.

There should be no reason why you won't be "out" during your surgery. And, there's no reason for you to have a spinal block when you are going to be "asleep."

I sure hope you discuss this, and any other questions you have about your upcoming surgery, with your doctor!!!

It depends on you. If you want to be asleep, an anesthesiologist will gladly give you systemic anesthesia. Whatever you want.

I don't think so. You wouldn't have adequate pain relief and they probably need to relax your muscles so the surgeons don't have to fight to keep the incision open, so you wouldn't be able to breath adequately.
