I noticed that too many get very agitated when you question their claims logically. Why is this? People's emotions are usually reactionary and many times have nothing to do with reality.

What say you?

Some people have better control over their emotions and their expression than others. Logic is not the only means for control, just one of the more common ways.

Emotions are spontaneous. To ask a person who is highly emotional and who has little control over them to stop these feelings and be logical is like asking a blind person to see. They know that this is almost impossible for them and so they tend to get angry.

Emotions are subjective. They are very personal. Logic is based upon objectivity. It is easily shared. It may be no more real than the emotional reaction, but it can be controlled.

Much of this a social or cultural issue. Some cultures promote emotional responses and others do not. In addition, role models play an important part.

The range of human responses to emotions is very wide. Do not assume that everyone is just like you are. If such people annoy you, then avoid them or become more tolerant towards others.

it's all about validation. most people that choose emotion(s) over logic know that it's not the best response but continue because they just want attention from others to feel validated no matter what. some people would rather have an audience over realism any day, plus its way more dramatic than actually having to make an effort and use their brain for common sense. confronting them about this only brings on more of an emotional response probably because they're getting more resistance and ridicule from you than praise and support. hopefully with time and age they'll learn that this will only get them so far for so long...like the boy who cried wolf i guess.

Logic and love go hand-in-hand. During the black plague, Bertrand Russel tells us, when the people were told to go to the Churches to pray that was the expression of love. But this only caused the disease to spread faster and kill more people. Science, logic and charity and love cannot be separated.

God wants you to use your faculties and to question everything if only because you are imperfect.

I don't believe that emotoins are not delt with logic. In my experience I have learned that I am an very emotional person...but I try not to let that effect my logic thinking. I just have to remind myself of the moment.

You and I both know "emotions" are best left in the bedroom underneath the silk sheets (growl growl...)
For problem-solving (and most other things, as well), "logic" is the usually the best way to go...

(except around in-laws, little brats, and humans in-general...ta tum tum...)

The "real" answer to your question is "psychological," sometimes even "pathological..."
A lot of people hinge their "psyche protection" on cosmically comical superstitious notions that rely heavily on convoluted and easily torn down logic chains....
When asked to use logic, these kinds of people shy away from that idea with fear and trepidation, knowing that if they self-examine themselves too closely with logic, their delicate protective psyche-wall with come crumbling down around their ankles, along with their pants, and they'll be left a broken, empty shell-of-a-man...(or woman...)

I must go now...(for I am getting too close to my own...!!! Evil laughter fading to weeping fading to darkness...)

I've noticed that too, it is like our emotions have a life of their own and try and control us into seeing things their way, and logic can disturb that creature that lives within us.

They get mad because they're using emotion instead of logic.
