Unplug the computer so that the power supply can cool off, then try it. If it comes on then, try another power supply. While you have it open, try dusting everything inside.
Put on an anti-static strap, and then carefully vacuum out the insides, or brush them clean with a soft paintbrush. Be sure to clean the blades of the fan too, as even a little dust there can make a big difference on how much air it moves. While you're there, make sure that the fan turns freely, and that it works when you plug it in.

Sounds like a fairly clear definition of the need for a new power supply, not knowing the specifications of your computer, make sure you get one that is rated for Intel if your processor is Pentium, Celeron, or Core Duo. If your processor is an AMD make sure the power supply is rated for AMD. No matter what, I recommend at least a minimum power supply size of at least 400watts, if your old power supply was 300 or 350, this will give you alittle room for future expansion. Also when selecting a power supply, try to get one that says it has multiple power rails and either a single fan of 120cm or larger OR dual fans of 80cm or larger. What probably happened was the fan that cools the old power supply failed causing excessive heat to build up in the power supply at which point it shut down. You can only hope that the overheat didn't damage anything else in the case, faulty power supplies can and will damage motherboards, processors, memory as well as the power supply itself.

appears like the two the battery died, and/or the charging circuitry has long gone undesirable. AFTER THE gadget COOLS DOWN thoroughly, the 1st ingredient to objective is to do away with the battery and attempt to capability the gadget on. If that doesn't artwork, attempt a sparkling battery (possibly your maximum inexpensive danger); if that doesn't artwork, then this is going to must be serviced. in the adventure that your buddy's pc as an entire overheated, opportunities are high the two the processor, motherboard, or the two are fried. pc processors are VERY tender to extra warmth. the two way, till the hot battery does the trick, it's time to take/deliver it for provider. good success!

You may need to bring it to the computer store and have a person look at it. No one can tell you by not looking at it. Also, It sounds like you need a new power supply.

It sounds like you need a new power supply. Hopefully nothing was damaged in your computer because of this. Also you can try to put a heat sink on your computer and try good computer case, power supply and fan.

First, you have to make sure all the fans are running if it ever turns back on.
The heat buildup may also have damaged other components.
DON'T GIVE ME A THUMBS DOWN!!!
