Don't forget the condom company (trojan) or Midas (the king who could turn everything he touched to gold). There are a couple of good examples already given, so I won't repeat them. But there are other examples, like the Firebird (the car) or aphrodisiacs (from the word aphrodite, goddess of sexual love), there is an airline company here in alaska named for the mayan god Quaztecotal (sp?), there are tons of towns and rivers throughout the US named for Native American legends, too many to list them all here, Olympia and Athens in Greece. Olympia named for Mt Olympus, Athens named for the Goddess Athena. Hell, the Olympics is a reference to these athletes being god-like. Lets not forget that the days of the week are named for Norse Gods; Sunday and Monday for the Sun and Moon. Or the first 6 months of the year are named for greco/roman gods. (July and August being for Caesars Julius and Augustus. Then counting from 7 to 10 with the other four months of the year). I could probably go on and on. But I think that's enough to get you thinking for now.
