I've heard this rumor a couple times but have never really been to a bar myself so I was curious. I'm 20-living in Ohio (I know some states are different in their laws). I've heard that as long as someone over 21 buys you a drink then technically you can drink it. Sounds kind of bogus to me, although I know there's something about being with your parents and them buying you a drink.

Thanks. :]

NO! You will be arrested for illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor if you are caught and even if your parents buy it they will be arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor if they are caught. Wait it out for another year then party hearty. Just play it safe and drink at your house or a friends and do not leave!!!!!!!!!!!

I used to work in a bar and that was one of the big things we looked for. Nothing better than busting a bunch of minors trying to drink their friends drinks. I've seen all the tricks. Pouring it into an empty soda cup that the minor had, taking it to the bathroom to drink in the stall, getting 5 glasses for a pitcher of beer, using a siblings ID, switching straws from the stir one to a regular one, sitting in a dark corner, going with 15 friends and slipping in the middle of the crowd, someone letting you in the back door, putting clear liquor in a water bottle, leaving it in the car........ETC..... Don't try it you will get caught.

Here in Germany it's prohibited to *drink* alcohol as a minor (liquor under 18, beer and wine under 16). Don't know the laws in USA, if you're only prohibited to *buy* alcohol or to actually *drink* the alcohol.
From my feeling I'd say your friend can get into trouble for giving alcohol to you.

i've never heard of parents being able to buy liquor for an underage child. and, btw, any bar which would go along with the idea you outlined would lose their liquor license, and thereby hurt their livelihood. it's an urban legend, a rumor, a lie, call it what you want, just don't believe it, or test it out.

NO,NO,No your acquaintances in basic terms say that so so you might purchase them a drink. there's no way in hell so you might purchase a minor a drink and it would be ok. in case you bypass to a bar & in the form you be with somebody below the age of 21- they won't permit the guy in & in the event that they do enable them to of their no longer enable to drink any alcoholic beverage. it is the regulation... in case you get cought identifying to purchase a drink for somebody it truly is not criminal eating age then you definitely can get into deep deep problem. human beings do it each and every of the time, & some places they dont even problem checking your age yet once you get cought then you definitely're in deep $hit.

No. The only way you MIGHT get away with it is if you are the persons parent and or guardian. If an underage is married to an overage their spouse is considered their guardian. I think that's legal, but not sure. Call your local authorities if you really want to know.

No, you cannot. If the owner of the bar finds out, you and your friend can be handed over to the police, because thats' enabling the delinquency of a minor.

It's not true and everyone involved in the situation if caught can get in some serious trouble. Its still considered suppling to a minor.
