now before I ask this this is just a question, I will ask it in the most tactful and intelligent way that I can... Racism or racists are people who hate others because of their beliefs, race, religion or sexual orientation, correct? Well to every one who says they hate racist, you're saying you hate a particular group of people because of their beliefs, so in turn doesn't that make you a racist as well? I cannot wait to read some of the responses to this. And I did not ask this to peeve anyone off this is just a question to see how many low brow answers I get to actual thought out ones. And if you are open to e-mail responses to your answers I will e-mail everyone that does answer, low-brow or not.

Storm earth and fire I am not married nor do I have kids but I welcome you to try to burn my house down. And if you had the balls to write that response you could have shown some back bone by giving your e-maill address so I could respond in a way I sure you'd have no problem understanding.

Have to respectfully disagree slightly with your premise.
"Racism" is, by definition, a belief either that:
1. One race (usually the race of the "racist" ) is inherently SUPERIOR to all others, or
2. Certain races are inherently INFERIOR to others.

Racism doesn't have anything to do with religion or sexual orientation, though discrimination certainly occurs based on both of those.

Some people want to pretend that "racism" is not just prejudice or a believe of racial superiority (or inferiority), but that in order to be "racist" you must also have the power to put those beliefs into practice. A lot of Black leaders claim this, because it means that Black people...no matter how racially prejudiced they may be...can't really be "racist". This means that one of the most emotionally-laden words can only be applied to White people.

I think that is true to a point. I think that hating people who are racists isnt as bad as someone who hates someone because of sexual preference, skin color, religious preference. I think that being a racist is worse than somone who hates racists. I dont know if that was confusing or not, but that is what I think. By the way I am not a racist---I really could care less of who or what people are or want to be. I do however dislike (not hate) racists. People believe what they want to, and you arent gonna change their minds.

If you're a racist, you hate others based on their race. Not necessarily the other things you mentioned (beliefs, sexual orientation, etc)

According to Wikipedia:

"Racism is a belief or doctrine that differences in physical appearance between people (such as those upon which the concept of race is based) determine cultural or individual achievement, and usually involve the idea that one's own 'race' is superior."

My understanding of racism is that it is a hatred of a certain kind of people based solely on their race, not their beliefs, religion, or sexual orientation. So, in my opinion, no. Hating racists does make anyone a hypocrite because "racist" is not a race.

Racists are people who hate others of a race, not relgion, sexual orientation, etc. But, assuming you're just making a blanket statement about hating those who hate: yes, I guess it does make them a biggot. I'm sure some racists have positive qualities. A better statement/creed for these people would be: I have no tolerance for racists.

Isn't racism simply a hatred or dislike for a specific race? Not groups in general. Either way, I think those who "hate" racists really hate the idea that there are people who judge others without giving them a chance (often it is very hipocritical)

no, that wouldn't make you racist at all. People who are racist make decisions about an entire group of people due to a predjudice(sp?), racist people hate everyone of a certain group because of something they saw one person do, etc. If someone hates racists then that is a sound judgement based on the person being a racist, and one thing true about all rascits is that they are racsist. I'm pretty sure that makes sense.

Well, no. A racist is one who judges people (usually hates people) based on their "race" or continent of origin.

Hence the word 'racist'.

Someone who, say, hates murderers hates people who commit that particular crime, which isn't the same as hating someone because of the continent some of their ancestors came from.

In the first case, they are being hated for an action; in the other, something over which they had no control.

I don't think there's a word for hating people based on their beleifs, as such.

There's hating people because of what they call the imaginary person they think they talk to (religion).

Not quite as silly as racism, but still silly, as you can't really tell much about a person who calls their god "Clem" as opposed to "Bertha" -- to choose two names.

But, what about, say, hating people who think torture is justified.

I DO hate those people, but I don't hate them for an arbitrary reason; I hate them because they applaud a hideous crime as a good thing.

This is called having morals.

A paradox! A paradox! A most ingenious paradox!!!

Actually, racists are people who hate others because of their race. Those who hate others based on their sexual orientation are called homophobes. And people who hate others because of their beliefs are called Republicans.

I think a more accurate way to descibe it would be that I hate the act of racism, not the racists themselves. One of my best friends is racist, and although I strongly disapprove of his viewpoint, I don't hate him for it. Nice question.
