I have been thinking of taking some of my crocheted things to the local fair to hopefully win a ribbon. I can't get up the nerve to do it. Does anyone know what types of things I should take?

How wonderful you're thinking of entering items into your local fair for judging! Besides the opportunity of winning ribbons, you'll also be exposing/exhibiting crochet, and who knows -- your work just might inspire someone to pick the crochet hook up for the first time, or again after a long hiatus! That in-of-itself is a fantastic feeling! :)

I recommend you check with the fair to see what is allowed, and how it is to be displayed. Two examples would be one fair that I submit items to: NO baby items allowed (too hard for them to keep track of); another fair will only allow doilies if they are mounted.

After checking with the fair re: the rules & guidelines, submit the items you are most proud of. Be sure those ends are tucked in securely because the better judges will give the fabric a tug!

Good luck! :)

I have entered things into my county fair for the last 2 years. I was nervous about doing it that first year. I just entered 2 items. One didn't place and the other took 2nd. I was so thrilled. Last year I placed 5 out of 6 items.
My advice to you is to enter things that you think are your best work. Make sure that you check the rules for your fair. There is usually paperwork you need to fill out and then turn in by a set date.
In our fair we can enter anything as long as it has been made with in the last year.
Good luck.

It's a big step. Just do it! Get your best stuff and go for it!

Just enter for fun, not with the thought of winning something. Chances are you'll meet some new people that enjoy the craft as much as you do. Make some new friends, maybe they even have a club or do charity projects together.

Get your nerve up! There's nothing to lose here! LOL

Take your very best items. If you are proud of them that is very important. Be sure to check the rules. Our county fair requires that the pieces be submitted way in advance and all the paperwork be filled out. You can't just walk into to the fair and submit your pieces on fair day.

take whatever you like. I enter fairs and it is really fun. I just take whatever I feel like taking. I ususally do really good. I do enter at least 30 crochet items and then go from their in sewing, baking, canning and produce.

Entering things in a fair is fun. Just enter anything that you think is flawless, and has a lot of handwork in it.

Take a variety of different things....throws, baby blankets, booties, sweaters, decorative items. You want to have something for just about anybody that comes by whether it be for them, a friend or loved one!
