I'm currently writing a book, and since I'm constantly on the go, I need a laptop so I can write wherever I am. I need a laptop that is easily portable, has good software for what I need, and is compatible with Microsoft Office Word Documents.

To the people who are calling him/her a dumb*ss, I'm sure you knew what he/she meant by the question. They were saying which is the better brand of laptop: Apple or the usual brands, such as Toshiba, HP, Dell, Acer, etc. I would personally stick with what I know. Apples, though very user friendly(with the light-up key boards and all) are mostly good for people who write music. Also, as someone mentioned above, software for an Apple brand laptop would cost almost 50% more than software for your basic brand of laptop. I believe the top three brands of laptops would be HP, Dell, and Toshiba. I hope this information was some-what helpful.

Apple makes a better laptop. Microsoft does not make a laptop.

However, if you want a laptop that is likely the most "Microsoft Office Word document compatible, you should select almost anything *other* than Apple.

PC's will run Microsoft Office, but if all you are really needing is a laptop for word processing, the gates should be wide open for your options. That isn't much of a restriction as you can run it on practically anything. Are you needing it for any other specific tasks other than writing?

Apples or IBM Compatible systems should both be more than adequate for what you intend to use your system for.

So shop and compare prices and features you are interested in. Tap on some keys and see what feels comfortable.

As a general rule for what you need to use your laptop for, Apple Systems tend to be a bit pricey in my opinion. Another point is that software for an Apple system typically costs 50% more than the same software for an IBM.

Before writing that book, you better learn the fundamentals. Microsoft makes software, not laptops. Dell, Toshiba, and Sony make laptops.

via fact for 25 years Microsoft has been the main suitable marketed workstation employer interior the employer. they have efficiently created the image that their products are the main suitable or the sole ones contained available. It began with a landmark settlement with the help of bill Gates to sell IBM an working device that he did no longer have. It has persevered for the duration of the final quarter century with product after product. i'm no longer particular that Microsoft has created ANY of the products it sells - it has bought (or stolen) just about each and every product it has on the industry, rebranded the product and purchased it as its own making the a lot have self belief that they innovate.

For your application go with a Windows based product. No need to spend over $400. Have at least a 60GB hard drive. You can go HP, or Dell, Toshiba. Apple computers are best for graphic design and ease of use, but still hard to find software, upgrades for. Look for battery life, hard drive size, and try to stay within the range of a 15" screen.

Okay, come on people. No Microsoft doesn't manufacter computers, but you knew what he meant. Come on.

Now, what would be best, if you just took Open Office, and used that instead of Microsoft Office, and then got an Apple. Writers are creative people, and creative people often like Apple's more. However, if price is a big factor, PCs are much cheaper, so getting a PC would be the better way to go.

Depend how much money you want to spend. Apple does not support any Microsoft Office Products. In my opinion Stick with Microsoft, the reason is in case your laptop goes down you can run to your nearest library to add the remaining pages. Microsoft is the dominateing operating system in the world. In other words - Everybody is using Windows from Microsoft.

Good Luck.

I'm typing on a MacBook right now- the best computer I have ever used...
I highly recommend MacBooks. Microsoft doesn't make any computers, just Windows, which is crap.

...and you can get Microsoft Office for Mac too, or Apple's iWork.
