on the wright stuff this morning they did an article about an advert for information for madeline mccann, it had been shown in cinemas and countless children were terrified becuase she had been taken from her bed at her holiday home. the mccanns pulled the advert from the cinema reluctantly due to the severe upset caused to the children. however the advert failed to mention madeline was left alone at the time, do you think this is another act of irresponsiblity on behalf of the mccann campaign? after all these children probably think that maddies parents were in the apartment when she was taken!

mshighwater stop bein so holier than thou. you completely mis understood the point. the point was that the children were scared because maddie had been taken from her bed in her holiday home, there was no mention that she was alone so the children thought her parents werent able to protect her or stop her from being taken. the point is that they werent there to do this and had the children known this then they wouldnt have been so upset by the advert and the parents could explain to them that they are there when they sleep so not to worry. this is not about the mccanns behaviour its about the ideas the children percieved due to the inaccuracy of the facts, every one wants a safe return for madeline and to suggest otherwise on my behalf is thoroughly inexcusable!

I am confused as to why the disturbing details of Maddy's kidnapping would be included in the advert. The whole point of the advert should have been to get Maddy's picture in front of as many people as possible so that she will be found. How she became missing is irrelevant as well as disturbing.

The McCann's are adopting a very aggressive campaign to find their daughter. Even their spokeswoman gave a half-hearted apology to the parents of the children who had been disturbed by the advert, stating that this is all part of their "no stone unturned" strategy, (so get use to it).

I didn't see it, but it does seem incredibly unempathic not to realise that it would frighten children who saw it.
The parents are obviously guilt ridden, and so go charging ahead in their attempt to find her, and also show to the world that they are trying to find her.
There can't be many people who are not aware of the situation, and it could be argued that the more and more public fuss is made about it, the less likely she is to be found safe.
I wonder what the public reaction would have been had not her parents both been doctors, the caring profession, and instead been working class. As you mention a crucial thing was that she was left alone, not to say the whole situation was not just terrible bad luck. But I think this guilt is blinding them to things that would otherwise be seen as obviously ill considered to them, ie the advert.

Its just a sad thing that she's missing, regardless of how it happened, for sure. But I agree, the adverts should have had the complete story... Scaring kids into thinking they arent safe in their own bed with their parents are just down the hall was unneccessary.

Everyone, religious or not, say a small prayer for her safe return, lets not argue over how it happened or whether her parents are to blame or not. The blame game isnt going to bring her home...

the whole of the media brush aside the fact that she was abondoned by her parents when she went missing

children who watch the advert should be made aware that she was left alone and that no proof has been found to support the big fat lie that she was taken in her sleep

it may be ugly but it is the truth

If you go to Mumsnet, where the discussion appears to have begun, you will see that, although a lot of parents were upset about the advert being shown before a U rated film, there are many others who took a different view.

The most important fact about Madeleine McCann at the moment is that she is missing NOT that her parents were not in the apartment. Get over yourself.
