No. It's the message, not the messenger, that makes the difference in the US. That's why you have elections. Policy is driven by ideology, not geneology.
It doesn't matter what a candidate's race or gender is, but rather how many people agree with what they think and intend to do, that will bring change.

No difference whatsoever. People are people. Some are more qualified than others, regardless of such trivialites as gender, eye color, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, or handedness.
As Hillary Clinton said on the 4th of July, here in Waterloo, Iowa, while I stood only a few feet away and heard it first hand, "I'm not running for President because I'm a woman. I'm running for President because I'm the best-qualified."

Ever since the establishment of this country, presidential elections have been white man against white man. I think it is great that we have a woman, a black man, and a hispanic man running for office. It is 2007, we claim to be such an advanced country, yet our government has seen little change except for different political parties. I think Hilary and Obama are the real headliners in the election just because there is a woman and a black man. I think there is still too much racism and biast in this country. There are people who wouldn't vote for Obama not because he is a democrat, but because he is a man of color. I personally think that he would make a great president, but a lot of people think he belongs back on the 'plantation'. As for Hilary, there are still so many chauvinists who would say that she needs to be barefoot in the kitchen having babies. I think America should live up to its motto as the land of oppertunities and support the changes that are needed in our government, whoever takes over.

It wouldn't make a difference regardless of gender or color. It is the issues at stake and what the person believes in doing that make a difference. We all have a brain inside our skulls, though some Presidents use it more than others do.

We have only had older white men hold the office. Maybe it is time for a change! Yes a Woman is fully capable of running the country! So is a person of another race! Maybe it's time for that change! It is an embarrassment to me that others of another country can see and read these questions and answers and think "Those Americans are really that simple minded?"

Yes--and for the better.
I don't think either gender or race confer any special ability. But that is precisely the point. For a woman--or an African-American--to serve as President will go a long way toward destroying the still strong racist and sexist ideologies that conntinue to pooison America. And bring the day when white trash like the KKK are finally and forever consigned to whatever historians use for a cesspool.

Frankly, yes. Keep in mind, I am not going to address how qualified any of them are to actually be President (as that's not your question). While race may not be a very big issue anymore, as most of the govts. we're friendly with now wouldn't care, gender might be huge. Keep in mind what our enemies think about women. We would be widely ridiculed and held in contempt by those we're trying deal with in the Middle East. At this point, can we really afford to waste time trying to overcome a stereotype they've held for hundreds if not thousands of years?
Considering how our enemies think, I don't know if America is ready to vote for a women from either party at this point. Just a thought, I could be wrong.

Personally, I'm tired of rich old white men doing the Macarena at their inagural party. I think a woman would be more sensitive in handling world affairs and not all gung-ho like G Dub. I don't know that race would make a difference. Might bother some neo-cons to have a black man in charge though.

not sure if it will be better, but I doubt it could be any worse, there are perfectly qualified people who are female and/or of other races
it's ludicrous to think the only people capable of running this country are aging white males

I would actually like to see someone that knows what they are doing. Doesn't take it's us against the world in relation to the Middle East and actually wants to work with congress instead of starting a war against them.
