A member of my family is an employee and works out at the YMCA. While she was in the locker room, she was getting putting her lotion on and preparing to get dressed. An employee who is a teen "camp counselor" walked into the womens locker room and stood there and watched her. When she looked up she saw that he was standing there looking at her and screamed. Other women were in the locker room said that they heard a mans voice and that he said something right after she screamed (she didnt hear him) According to her, the staff almost seemed ike they were trying to cover up for this kid, her boss said that he has to look into it and hear the kids side of the story first. The kid said that he was looking in there for a child that belongs to his camp group (right.) she does not know what to do, who to call, but she says that if they dont fire him she cant work there anymore. She says she feels violated and uncomfortable especially with him there. Any thoughts on this matter? legal or other?

Uuh, scratch that last comment, please. Ted Bundy was a horny kid, too, and thenhe decided to chop up some women... the important part is that the YMCA, which I am sure has guidelines for sexual harassment by counselors and between employees, did not act appropriately. They almost certainly acted againt their own rules. First, ask for a copy of their rules regarding sexual harassment, and I'm sure when you see that, you will know what they were supposed to do under their own laws. (By the way, they also are required by law to provide that information to you.)
If they refuse to handle this kid, they need to be sued, and they need to be sued very soon, before the time limit runs out. "He was just a dumb horny kid" only lasts so far ... if he's in the women's locker room, he's not there for a legitimate purpose, and the YMCA owes a duty of protection to its employees and to the kids that go there.
What if later, this kid actually assaults someone, or molests a child? Then the YMCA will REALLY be liable, because they knew about his propensities and did nothing to stop him. This is exactly how the Catholic Church is getting hit with all of these millions of dollars in lawsuits, because they looked the other way with priests who molested kids and allowed them to continue. Stop this kid before he really does something bad!

I have an idea, instead of your family member freaking out they should cut the kid some slack.

You are talking about a horny teenager who probably only took the job as camp counselor because he had no girlfriend.

Tell your family member to be cautious around him, but remember that every guy in the camp most likely wants to see her naked. Only the hormone-charged teenager is stupid enough to try.

My mom works at a YMCA and they had a lawsuit because an employee came in dress to the hilt and a member complimented her... I say sue them if they do not compensate for it...

The person to contact would be a lawyer who specializes in labor law. In fact, just threatening to get one may get more direct action.

Another potential place to go would be the state labor board.
