Let me know what you guys think. I didn't put Roddick up there cuz he only has one grand slam and yet failed again today at Wimbledon. This guy has talent but is not one of the greats.

I'm leaving out Seles and Navratilova since they became US citizens late in their careers, by then, they won many slams and titles.

How could you leave out Navratilova? She should at least be #2 on that list. Chris Evert should not be so high. And I wouldn't put Capriati on that list.

I agree more or less with the men's list. Technically speaking, Ivan Lendl became an American in the early 90s. I guess you're not counting him (?).

I would have the same men's list, the women's list would be this:

1. Martina Navratilova
2. Chris Evert
3. Serena Williams
4. Venus Williams
5. Monica Seles

:)

BTW Rod Laver was Austrailian and Steffi Graf was German... :)

In Mens, I agree.
In Women, Williams sisters(Serena and Venus) take the top 2 spots followed by Martina, Davenport and finally Martina Seles.
Evert was good only in that period when she had very few top 10 competitors compared in 90s and 2000s.

I think it is significant that you have had to dig deep into the past to come up with 10 greats!
(in answer to another replier: Navratilova was a Czech for years and learned her tennis there not in the U.S. so I guess she doesn't qualify as U.S. American)
By the way..American? At last count that included over 2 dozen countries in 2 continents by that name. I guess you refer to the U.S. of A.,right? I mean, an Argentine or a Chilean or a Canadian etc etc etc just might think of himself/herself as being from America too,you know.
