I suspect everything will go along much as it has in the past, insofar as the planet earth is concerned.
Future of mankind might experience some surprises, however.
If mankind fails to keep up the technological momentum, if he runs out of fossil fuels before finding an easy alternative source of energy, or if anything of any kind interrupts the energy/mineral/technology chain in such a way as to cause him to pause, I think Star Trek will be a long while coming.
Human kind already has mined all the easy-to-find minerals and energy sources. Any future mankind that has to start from scratch will find it difficult to accomplish a bronze age, more so for an iron age.
A lot of sanitary landfills might find themselves the focus of a strange new respect.
Star Trek certainly has more appeal, while there does remain potential for growth and adventure for Og, man with a bearskin jockstrap.

A slow deterioration of global (planetary) health as we continue to overpopulate & expend natural resources faster than they can be replenished.
Possible space colonization if a consortium of visionary world leaders can put aside petty (racial, religious, gender) differences long enough to think about others' well-being and not their own financial gain. More likely, space will become a dumping ground for waste generated on Earth.
Development of renewable energy sources must occur if this planet & its inhabitants are to have any hope of lasting another 300-500 years or beyond.

With today as the benchmark we can be sure of disastrous days ahead for the Earth. The global warming ,the severe water shortage, the increasing crime, ever increasing disease on one hand and on the other our callousness towards protecting or propagating vegetation, our recklessness in stopping degradation of environment are all contributing to make this Earth a hell.
so any amount of discoveries and scientific progress in no way will help it to make a better place to live.

In 2350 I think we will have become so hot with global warming we will take off all our clothes and swing from the palm trees in the deserts to get dates for food. The world will be peaceful except for the sombrero wearers sitting under the cactus to shade themselves. Homes will be underground and we will live like moles in the ground searching for grubs to eat with our dates. Watch out! There goes another friggin' tornado.

Mankind is wholly incapable of imagining its future. It is the only thing that saves us. Science fiction exists to expose defective futures and thereby prevent their existence.
Baby Boomer retirement in 2015 collapses the Welfare State. Their infinitely taxable pockets wll turn inside out as they demand $1.5 trillion/year in retirement and medical expenses. Cities will burn. All petroleum will be consumed by 2050, ending First World technological civilization (plastics, pharma, fuels).
The clean future ("Star Trek") is ridiculous. The dirty future ("Blade Runner") is optimistic. The likely future is God's dominion of poverty, hunger, disease, filth, death, and silk-clad priests with whips. God's priests will exhort the mobs with tales of a return to the City where food could be plucked from shelves, people were magically rapidly transported anywhere while sitting down, and human waste disappeared down porcelain altars.
Every priest screams, "Hodie mihi, cras tibi." Only a fool believes in post-mortem escrow closing.

(UTOP-IAN) society isnt likely unless we can defeat world hunger.
that wont happen as long as the african continent is ravaged by AIDS
that wont change until the people with aids can be educated to prevent its spread in a sensible and realistic way.
That won't happen as long as the religious NGO's have a say about condoms.
that won't change as long as a largely secular population. continues to require its presidential candidates to uphold some a "christian" standard.
to have a society that is fair for all you need a leader that is not entrenched within one group or another
