Some Marxists would say that the U.K. bomb attacks are an example of conflict theory. In conflict theory, the poor people of the world are being held down by the rich, and so it's no wonder that they fight back every once in a while.
The conflict between Pakistani security forces and Islamic students could be viewed through the lens of structural functionalism. Even though it appears that the Islamic militants are a 'disfunction' of society, they actually make the nation of Pakistan more cohesive because they unite the country under a common cause and reinforce social norms (e.g., "attacking people with guns is bad.")

I think the best example right now would be the immigration situation in the United States. There are so many layers of sociology in that situation I would not know where to start correcting the problems our government has created.
