Yes, and yes. Both of these movements are about equality, though in different ways, and a desire for equality can (and should!) be prevalent both in the subjugated and the privileged.

However, concerning feminist males, some conscientious males realize that, as males, they can never truly understand the female experience. Therefore, it feels more comfortable for them to call themselves pro-feminist, etc. Either way is perfectly acceptable, of course.

Absolutely. I have met several men here who are just as passionate, if not more so, about feminism than I am. The upper class can also support socialism, though they are more likely to be white-wine socialists than anyone. I, being upper-middle-class, support a mixed economy.

no longer somewhat. Us as against them shows "winners" and "losers." while a woman is authorized to realize her finished ability, each and every physique wins. i've got been a feminist, if a reasonably politically inactive one, because of the fact the 70's. i grow to be below the impact that the term had lost known utilization, considering all of us no longer below a rock considering 1980 is familiar with that individuals are purely human beings, and all deserve a honest shot.

I think the majority of males are feminists and just don't know it. My hubby wouldn't classify himself that way, but he would be the 1st guy to stand up if he felt I was being discriminated against solely based on my sex.

I do know some 'old money' ppl, and they are all for free healthcare and other socialist idealism. Just because someone has moohlah doesn't mean they don't care about the underpriveledged. Conversely, it seems the nuevo riche (sp?) are less inclinated to 'share the wealth'.

Yes men can be feminists. Those in the privileged position have a more effective voice in advocating as allies.
Feminism is a diverse collection of social theories, political movements, and moral philosophies, largely motivated by or concerning the experiences of women, especially in terms of their social, political, and economic situation. As a social movement, feminism largely focuses on limiting or eradicating gender inequality and promoting women's rights, interests, and issues in society.

Socialism is NOT communism. Socialism means that you want the community at large to benefit from the country's wealth. Socialism doesn't mean that there are no rich peoploe. It means that the difference between rich and poor is not too important, that people have a right to health care, and things like that. Places such as Cuba, contrary to what they say, are not socialists. They are communist... Actually, they are communist dictatorships. So, yes, someone who has money can be a socialist, meaning that he doesn't mind paying taxes, for instance.

males can be feminists because feminism is simply a philosophy anyone can hold... they are probably more often referred to as progressives, etc. only because of the gender association that is found with the phrase feminist itself... as for upper class being socialist, i think that is a harder nut to crack- being upper class is a position, not a condition (such as gender), and therefore involves a degree of choice... i think that upper class can support socialist ideals, but if they were true socialists they would probably not be upper class, having distributed all of their assets.

-Yes males are feminists, it's a philosophy, like democracy. There are no "rules" on who can declare themselves a feminist. Some men and women prefer to call themselves humanists.
-Likewise, yes upper class people can be socialists.

-No, the "best" feminists are not lesbians. There are plenty of lesbians who are not feminists. The majority of feminists are heterosexual. This is an anti-feminist, and homophobic stereotype promoted by the conservative, "religious" right-wing, like Rush Limbaugh and Pat Robertson.

Of course men can be feminists. All that means is that they believe in equal rights for both sexes.

Why would the upper class WANT to be socialist? They'd have to give up all their money, and I doubt rich people want that.
