yea, what's up with that? If I see a good answer I want to look at their other answers to see if they are consistent. It's irritating not to see the other answers and questions.
OK...I didn't think of that, that is kind of creepy.

Definitely!, I just emailed someone who has, everything hidden, about best answer, she gave to a guy, Whose answer was, "oh yeah that really sucks", The question was about the new richest man in the world!, so she sends me an email back, and tells me I am a weirdo, and I didnt know, that they had communicated before about the Q&A.
I really dont think I should have got best answer, but there were others, that deserved it more than this guy!.
She said I had no Right to email her, and I told her that as long as she has emails allowed, anybody, could communicate, ask, or what ever as long as that person is not abusive.
THERE IS A LOT GOING ON BEHIND HIDDEN Q&As.

Yes ... we are hiding our buisiness from stalkers, trolls, and people that get so offended for minuscule reasons ... it's nothing personal against anyone that doesn't fall into any of the above.
People in here love to report other Y! A participants and get them suspended for no good reasons at all.
Keeping your profile on private isn't 100% safe from those pathetic losers, but it helps a little. Have a nice day.

I used to think so until I saw a question someone else had about this...one of the people who answered showed WHY they kept their Q&A hidden and it kinda creeped me out.
They went to another answerer's profile, went through their Q&A's and then posted a BUNCH of personal info that they were able to gather about that answerer just from looking at those Q&A's.
It really made me think...

NO we are hiding from the jerkoffs who put out a hit on us and get us deleted over and over and over again by reporting us cuz they don't like us. Stick around long enuf, get some people who like you and it'll happen to you, too. That's what Yahoo!Answers has to offer.

I have had some people refer to my other answers in their answers to my questions. That kind of creeped me out, so I made them private (after deleting the whole question I had asked that that happened in).

I'm not hiding. It's just my prerogative. It doesn't prevent people from reporting you, but it definitely helps. My answers can still be seen, if you scroll through P&S and find the questions I've answered. It helps with stalkers too.

I have nothing to hide. I kept getting some stalker wanting my phone number and other info. So now, it's private.
Sorry.

No, not at all. I've got my info set to private because I was getting some crazy emails from someone on YA (he/she musta not liked my answer or something)-- better safe than sorry.
