People are often surprised when I talk about having a career as I don't work in an office and have a big salary. To me it's about a job where I need to be constantly learning and thinking, but a job that I can do well. Something that I want to (mostly) get up and go to, and that I can have an impact on.

yes i totally agree. i was just talking about this today. i feel that a job is something that you go to to earn cash and then leave behind when you go home. a career is part of your life and who you are.
i currently have a job in a cloths shop but I'm perusing a career in nursing.
i think it doesnt matter which you do as long as your happy.

Career to me means a job with prospects and possibility of advancement.
I have a job, I'm a carer, not much room for advancement, I could become a senior if I wanted but I don't have the people skills I think I would need. I certainly don't have the confidence which astounds most people I know.
Were I to do my nursing then I would be moving into a career. Nursing has multiple possibilities attached to it.

Career = something you love to do, want to do, look foward to doing.
Job = you have to do to earn $ to survive, if you didn't have to you wouldn't do it.
I am about to begin a career, but have had many jobs! If you are lucky, you can have a career and earn a living too!!

A career to me is something you would be doing even if you didn't have to work for a living. It's something that means a lot to you and makes you feel like you've found your "calling".
As for me, I haven't found it yet.

its somewhere u go to make money...it doesnt matter if u like it or not...but u have to do it in order to make it thru this place we call life!!!
