We have a camera light outside of our neighborhood. When I try to turn right to get into my neighborhood, but the light is red, it flashed me. I have been waiting for the ticket in the mail for a week now. There was no traffic going in that direction, will I get a ticket? I thought making a red was legal if there is no traffic coming.

Yes, making a right turn on a red light is legal in most every state and municipality, however those stupid red light cameras don't know what you're doing, but hopefully the people that review the pictures can figure out what your were doing and throw it out. It can take 2-3 weeks for a ticket to arrive in the mail. If you do get one, read the instructions to find out how to contest the ticket. Sometimes you can write a letter, others may require you to appear in person. I think you have a good chance of getting it thrown out if you do get the ticket and contest it.

Good luck.

Legal right turn on red varies by state. It's a state law. If it is legal in your state, they probably won't send you a ticket because you didn't do anything wrong. The camera snapped the picture because it detected movement, they can tell from the picture what you were doing and would just throw it out.

As long as you have come to a complete stop before making your right, and as long as there is no sign that states no right turn on red. You should be fine.
