No - I think you are being very wise if you choose to use a generic formula. I used the wal-mart formula for my son. If you check the label's they have the same ingredients as the "name brand". It takes some time to sort out which formulas are the exact same but once you figure it out you will be saving tons on money.

nope, formula is regulated by the FDA so mostly they are all the same!
not only that, the generic ones are probably made by the same company as the name brand.
they do this with diapers i wouldn't doubt they do this with formula (luvs and pampers are made by the same company for instance)
"All infant formulas marketed in the United States must meet the nutrient specifications listed in FDA regulations. Infant formula manufacturers may have their own proprietary formulations but they must contain at least the minimum levels of all nutrients specified in FDA regulations without going over the maximum levels, when maximum levels are specified"
"Because infant formula is a food, the laws and regulations governing foods apply to infant formula. Additional statutory and regulatory requirements apply to infant formula, which is often used as the sole source of nutrition by a vulnerable population during a critical period of growth and development. These additional requirements are found in section 412 of the FFDCA and FDA's implementing regulations in 21 CFR 106 and 107. To view the FFDCA and regulations in 21 CFR, see FDA Federal Register Documents, Code of Federal Regulations & Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act"
sounds an awful lot like they regulate it to me!

It's not bad to give a baby generic formula. It's perfectly fine. Ask your doctor for reassurance, but it will not deprive your baby.

Formula is NOT regulated by the FDA, contrary to some posters opinion. I had to throw that out there because it is a myth, and mothers deserve to know the truth.
I say if you couldn't afford the good, expensive formula, then why the hell didn't you breastfeed?

Nope not at all! All baby formula has to meet FDA standards to be up for sale, so generics are just fine!

Absolutely not! I used walmart brand called parents choice it was cheaper than similac but had the same ingredients. I actually preferred it b/c the powder dissolved faster. My daughter didn't have gas or any other trouble with But if your truly concerned ask your Dr what they recommend.

I use the Sam's Choice brand from Wal-Mart and I actually like it better than the brand names. But it's all pretty much exactly the same. If you read the ingredients, they all include the same thing.

Formula is regulated by the FDA. If you check the ingred. and nutritional guide on each, they are the same. If you are still concerned, ask you doctor for peace of mind. But it's the same stuff but costs so much less.

It is perfectly safe.
Go to this web site and see the nutritional facts.
The one sold at Sam's club is exactly the same as Enfamil Lipil.
http://www.membersmarkformula.com/milk.aspx
And its less than half the price.
