About 10 years ago a friend of mine was arrested for under the influence of a controlled substance (first and only offense) , shortly after she went through a drug treatment program but missed her court date while in the program. She has been clean ever since hasn't had any trouble, remarried and is doing good with her children. She's going to go in this week to take care of the old warrant since she knows it will follow her wherever she goes but wants to know what will probably be the outcome. Any ideas?
btw: it's in Riverside County, California if that makes a difference

My guess is she will get off easy with a perfect record since. It sounds like she deserves it.

Missing a date with the court may not be the best she could have done. How is she going to prove that after going to the program in those days she was clean?

She may not get arrested, but may have to pay a big fine. You know, the court like to give example to the rest of society.

Legal advice on the internet is shaky despite the best intentions.

Your friend should consult with a lawyer, who can investigate the likely outcome without revealing his or her client's identity to the court, police, etc.

10 yrs ago? I'm sure she'll pay a fine and go home. There's gotta be a statue of limitations on that. I can't imagine them throwing someone's mother in jail for something that happened that long ago, especially if there's been no trouble since.

She should phone the court and ask what will happen if she comes in to fix it.

Yeasr ago I had multiple traffic warrants against me, and they just let me fix it, pay the fines, etc. They didn't grab me for coming in to fix my legal problem.

Good luck!

Make sure that she had documentation that she was in rehab when the ticket was due, it might help but my guess is higher fines, probation and or community service.

since it is so old they might have dropped it already but if not tell them the case history and she might get a fine or just a warning

if it has been ten years it might not even be on record. and if it is it will probably be dismissed.
