how do you go about getting an application to be a ref in the nba?

It is a long uphill road to become a referee in the NBA. You would have to have a lot of experience in high school basketball, college, industrial leagues, and then be invited by the NBA to attend special training classes. Even after all of that your chances are still very slim that you will ever become a referee in the NBA. I believe there are only about 200 approved referee's in the NBA which would mean there would have to be an opening and you would have to be rated the best in the country to fill an open slot.
