What do you know about Put-in-Bay Ohio?

My husband and I want to have a nice weekend getaway. I wanted to try to get some info from people who have been there and know something about it. I have heard about all of the pubs, but we are not big drinkers so I was wondering if there were other things that are available for those not interested in "partying." Any suggestions for fun activities - besides the pub-life? Also, how much should we budget for hotel/transportation? Thanks so much for any information!!

It's a cute little island, a fun place to cruise around on a summer day. We aren't big drinkers either, so we went out by ferry, looked around for the afternoon, and caught the ferry back at 6:30 p.m. Great views and very relaxing.

One alternative to staying there would be to simply get a hotel on the mainland. You'd save something like $100 a night, and the ferry ride probably will cost you $25 per couple, so you'd be way ahead. One day in Put-in-Bay and one day at Kelleys Island (nearby) might make for a very nice weekend.

The Perry Peace Memorial was closed last month due to repairs, which was too bad -- you can see Ontario from the top of it.

Put-in-Bay is called 'keywest of the north'. Meaning its a big party island. If this isn't your scene you may want to look into going somewhere else. If you have your heart set on going here, rooms usually cost on average around $200 per night to stay on the island. As for transportation while on the island you should look into renting a golf cart, you can usually do this through your hotel. Enjoy your vacation!

Ive been there also...I wasnt that impressed. It had a few nice shops but other than that I enjoyed the ferry ride to & from. Sandusky isnt far from there...Ceder Point is a amusement park with a record breaking coaster.
Goofy golf has miniture golf and fast go-karts. We had alot of fun there. Margraritaville and we toured a lighthouse not far away.
