You will know if you miscarry. The pain is horrible and you have a really heavy "period" and you have lots of clots come out with the period. good luck and dont worry not all women miscarry.

Ive had two miscarriages, the first was a missed miscarriage, i just had a little spotting before my period and then a week later a real period, and then last june i was 11 weeks pregnant and started spotting, i had no pain or anything, but called the mid wife just in case..she said it could be normal but to relax, it went away, but then the next night i had bright red blood, it wasnt enough to fill a pad, but it was a good amount, i freaked ofcourse and called the midwife again, i had no pain so she said that was a good sign, but we went to the er and they gave me an ultra sound and there was no heart beat, i had my hcg hormones checked and they werent doubling, so they confirmed that i was probably losing the baby, i had little spotting for the next week, and then one morning woke up in HORRIBLE pain, and thats when i had the actual miscarriage, its REALLY bloody and clotty.......but depending on how far along you are is the only way to really know, if you dont know your pregnant and you lose a baby, odds are you'll have no clue...but the farther along you are the more you'll know, because its worse. but the best thing to do is NOT worry about it, everything happens for a reason, and you'll have a healthy beautiful baby when its time....i now have a beautiful one month old daughter and had no complincations during the pregnancy, and if you do miscarry, remember after you have one, the odds of having another one are REALLY low...so just keep your head up and stay positive! good luck!!!
*sorry this is so long!!*

I guess the majority of women do know, I however miscarried in December of 2006 and did not know I had no cramping and no bleeding and later had to have a D and C done to remove the baby and i was 12 weeks, The doctor said that the baby had just stopped growing. However you may not miscarry at all stop worrying and just prayï Babydust to you.

if you miscarry you will know, usually there is pain that comes along with a miscarriage, or if you know you're pregnant like i did, and see blood for days, it could be a possibility of a miscarriage. i didn't wait to miscarry though i had a D & C, but you shouldn't be thinking about things like that, think positive. good luck.

Most of the time you will know. There will bleeding with clots, cramping, some back pain. I know you don't want to hear this but my first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage and I had no idea. I went in for and ultrasound and there was no heartbeat and the baby hadnt grown. I had to have a D&C. But, the majority of women do know when they have had a miscarriage.

If you miscarry very early, like within the first 6 weeks, you probably won't know. It'll seem like a period. After that, though, it's more distinct and you'll probably know.

Yes you will know if you are having a miscarraige. If you have cramps or spotting you should be going into the hospital anyway, and that is usually the first sign for some women. Once there, the doctors will be able to tell you if something is happening. Good luck though, i hope that doesn't happen to you.

You will definately know, just look forward to the first ultrasound, chances of miscarriage go down like crazy once you see that heartbeat and they go down to almost nothing when you hit the 12-13 week end of the first trimester mark. Good luck!

Not necessarily, no. They don't all involve pain or bleeding. And some crampiness in early pregnancy is normal, and plenty of women bleed a little bit with no problems...
The odds are on your side, though. Try to think of something else!
Edit: unless one's in unmanageable pain or bleeding profusely, there's no reason to go to the ER. There's no stopping an early miscarriage.
