I think it is a cute name. But here is some info on its meaning:

Azrael is typically known as one of the names of the angel of death. It is an English form of the Arabic name Ezra'il or Ezra'eil (عزرائیل), the name traditionally attributed to the angel of death in Islam, although the Qur'an never uses this name, usually using instead Malak al-Maut (which is a direct translation of angel of death). It is also spelled Izrail, Izrael, Azriel, Azrail, Azraille, or Ozryel. Chambers English dictionary uses the spelling Azrael. The name literally means whom God helps.

Its a pretty good name, and Az is a cool shortened version to call him. Who the heck would mispronounce "Azriel?" It looks just like it sounds! hmmm.

It's whatever you and your husband want.

That being said, that cat on the Smurfts was named Azriel.

I think it will be mispronounced a lot, and maybe a little hard for him to spell when he reaches kindergarten, but if you're ok with that, name him what you like. don't settle for a name you're only ok with based on other peoples opinions. Oh, just saw you already named him! thought you were asking if you should name him that. If he's already named, why are you asking?

It's never a bad name if you and your hubby picked it out!! We named our son Jalen... people were ALL over that one saying it was too feminine...

I say OH WELL!! It's your child... you get to decide! I think it's cute!! And like the Z in it =)

Well it only matters if you like it. Other then it being mis-pronounced often, it's a beautiful name. Enjoy the new baby and don't worry about what people think of his name.

it's a cute name, but u might want to give him 1 thats a little more normal so he won't get made fun of at school.
but i can understand, if i was going 2 name my baby i would want 2 give it a unique and origanal name.
but it IS your baby, and he will have that name 4 the rest of his life, and it's your choice what u call him...
