Usually it is performed at the hospital after the baby is born if you choose.
Sometimes, it's performed in a religious ceremony.
If you dont have it done at the hospital you can always go back to the doc to have it done.

in 2003 the doctors did my son 10 days after he was born. then i had twins in 2005 boy/girl but they wouldn't do my youngest son because now its not automatic getting the surgery done because of insurance companies. they told me that he had to have something wrong with it like the skin wouldn't pull back all the way when he pee'd so after all that yes the did do it but he was 2 1/2 at the time

Most OB's as well as the child's pediatrician or on call pediatrician preform the circumcision right at the hospital.

I chose to have my son circumcised and they did it right there at the hospital I was at. They didn't do it until he was 24 hours old though. They also had my family doctor come up and do it, not the doctor and nurses who helped deliver him.

The hospital will perform the procedure there; but why do you want to do it. Don't believe the myth that everyone circumcises there boy, and don't believe that it is for their health. It is a cosmetic procedure, and over washing the foreskin is what causes infections. Don't believe me, ask your doctor. You are cutting your child's foreskin! Consult with your doctor for the truth about this.

Usuallly they do it when they are very little, and if you wait there's a good chance that they won't want to do it later on. My son was in the hospital and he had heart surgery, they couldn't do it, and now he's 5 years old, we went to see a couple of doctors and they all told us the same thing, if you don't get it done early after that unless they have an infection or something, they won't do it.
so do it now.

When I went to the hospital I had to sign a paper stating that if it was a boy I do/don't want him circumsized. I wasn't even expecting a boy, my baby was supposed to be a girl (he suprised me by being a boy). Anyways, they had me sign the paper before I even started having labor pains or contractions.
If you chose no, you can still later request it be done. However, if you choose yes they often circumsize the baby fairly quickly, so you may not be able to undo your choice.

My ob had me sign the consent form when we found out that I was having a boy. They normally do it at the hospital the day after they're born.
