I recently got my credit report and discovered that someone has been using my name to try to obtain credit.

They made 9 attempts in a six month period all of which were unsucsesful.

My credit score is now down to 540! i have spoken to the companys they made the credit searches and they have aggreed to remove all the searches on my record that I didnt make.

Does anyone have an idea on how many points my score will go up once these 9 failed attempts to obtain credit have been removed from my account?

Thanks

Assuming your actual credit was pretty good, having those removed will help you out. However, if the person trying to use your credit couldn't qualify for a loan, then you might not have had good credit to begin with!

A few points at least.

I hope you put a fraud alert on your credit report.
