Pete Townshend of 'The Who' was the person famous for smashing his guitar at the end of the their shows. Everyone else who ever did it, did it after he did it and it's one of the things he's most famous for, therefore everyone except him was just having a 'Pete Townshend moment'. :-) I hope nobody else is trying to take credit for this.
