To add friends, go to the person's profile.....on the left side under the picture button, click "add to friends" there will be a confirm and there you go, all the other person has to do is accept......

To add a photo, go to your home page (the page right after you sign-in) click on add/edit photos, browse, and select the desired photo.....there you go
