My wife and I are of African Persuasion and I was raised by my grandmother who just retired after 27 years of teaching; She taught me to be a gentleman and gave me a passion for education.

Now there is a difference between a black man and "******" and I have often had my issues with the latter. Before my wife and I were met she gave up on black men in this country because of the lack of disrespect. In other countries black men convey their respect for black women but not here. Ever listen to reggae?
Example: My wife is a former model from Africa which most men will look out of admiration for beauty but it seems when it comes to "******" they have this lustful, pervertive look, why?

It's these same ****** that complain about unfairness but when you have black men that are trying to do good such as Obama, Colin Powell they are called sell out's?

I love and respect my black women but I seem to be a minority whithin a minority on this one....

I don't understand it either, but it does not get me down because I'm not interested in black men any way, so the disrespect they show towards me is usually because they know I don't want anything besides friendship with them. Thank you for the uplifting comment though. *u*

Not sure why because but I have a clue...Being that I am not Black American - I have similar cultural differences with the brothers in the US. It's a combination of things. Black men are overly sexually objectified in this country - and they need to distance themselves from that objectification in order to return to a more whole perception of themselves. Now, not all are like that, but just like pop culture affects teens, social perceptions have a psychological impact on Black men in America.

Just as an experiment, go do a run down of brothers who have personals out - they always describe themselves as sexual before anything else. What does this say??

It is sad for the black women who are interested in black men as a whole. Black women who aren't really don't care enough about them to be affected. They're indifferent.

Im a black man and this is how im gonna answer this. I dont discriminate with any race of girls. What likes me i Like back if we share common interests and its not a forced situation. I was born in the hood but raised in the burbs. Black women tend to find me to educated and soft for them to be attracted to me. I though this would change when i went to college nah same story. It varies. I forget what songs they say hood girls love a educated guy and educated girls love thugs thats how ive witnessed.

what kind of bullsh*t is that? this would not be the forum to air out dirty laundry! go on Tavis Smiley or "Like It Is" with Gil Noble. You just sound like you are grandstanding on here. The problem with black men and their disrespect for black women is far more complicated than what you make it out to be. You can't just go around making blanket statements about black men. part of the problem with black men is the culture of the urban poor. where sexual promiscuity is praised as being ultra masculine and showing sensitivity is derided. rap music only fuels this misogyny but in no way can it be seen as the cause of it. such behavior is endemic to the urban poor wherever you find them. i've never heard anyone refer to Obama as a sellout, but i have heard that said of Colin Powell and rightfully so. shame on him for joining a corrupt and RACIST administration. he left because he knew he was dealing with people with an agenda for the middle east. What i don't need is some Africans on yahoo acting as though their sh*t doesn't stink! You've got alot of damn nerve with genital mutilation and polygamy. Don't you ever in your motherfu*king life air out the dirty laundry of African American men again!!!!!!!!!

and what the f*ck is up with a lightskinned avatar? i guess self hating black people aren't limited to America huh?

WHere as I a gree with most of what you say I would add, man black women are part of this blame as well so don't put it all on black men. I know many black women who want nothing to do with a well spoken, well dressed, intelligent, cultured brotha, they actually prefer ghetto brothas with no money and no education. Seen it time and time again my friend from white women as well.

The first answerer hit the nail on the head....it has to do with self-hatred...if one hates onself they tend to take it out on those closest to them..in this case black women.....now that we realize that....here comes the bigger question....WHY?.......the answer is too deep for this forum...but i will say this....in order for the black man to look at his woman as the queen she truly is.......he will need to look at her with untainted eyes......
