Absolutely! They are wonderful people and I am very lucky to have them as my in-laws.

Yep, we get along great. I golf with my FIL and brother in laws once a month. They are kind of like the parents I never had, so I got lucky.

Its hard at times because to a certain point your always going to feel the need to meet every expection that they have. If your mate is willing to make you feel comfortable and stand behind you through reason you should be okay with being around them.

No my husbands mother cannot stand me.
And that is because her son moved to another state to live
His children from another marriage wanted to live with their mother. so he still moved.
they are 19 and 15. we have a daughter together and the first thing she said when she met her granddaughter was i cant sit here and hold the baby all day i have laundry to do. she had held her but about 3 minutes and we drove 8 hours to visit. she made comments like i dont know why he would want another child he has children. and she talked to the ex wife the time we visited. she even tried to convince my husband to forget about our child together and leave me.
i have done everything to get this woman to like me. we recently lost another baby and called to tell her no im sorry nothing just started to talk about the weather. anyway the plus side is my family loves my husband and they treat him like a son. oh well.

Yes. It helps that they live two states away though☼
Even when they lived near us, they weren't the kind of people to butt in, and his mom isn't the controlling type either. My husband and my parents get along good too. My mom only lives 15 minutes away, but she isn't the controlling type and she doesn't butt in either (my dad is deceased).

We get along great. I learned from my own parents especially my mother on how she treated my grandmother. My in-laws are my second parents.

They were cordial to me, but that was it. They didn't like me because I was Protestant and they were Catholic - and there was no room for discussion.
It's much easier now ... they passed away years ago.
