good point. we attacked Iraq. We defeated their army and their government. Time to declare victory and bring our troops home. Unless of course the war is about something other than what we have been told it is about.

We're fighting to help a country avoid becoming a hot-bed of muslim terrorists that have one person in life...kill Americans, Europeans and anyone else who doesn't believe in allah. No one admits that our strategies have been perfect, but we must see this through. To some extant, I agree that we probably shouldn't have gone to war with Iraq in the first place, but it's not my call and neither is it yours. Hindsight really is 20/20... If we don't follow through with what we started, then our children and their children will be fighting this war once the islamic extremists find a way to cause another 9/11. On top of that, I'm not ready to leave. My good friend was killed a little over 6 months ago while serving our country and I'll be going back over there in a few short months for the 3rd time. Why should we let him and everyone else die in vain? When the war is won, whenever that may be, that's when we'll be ready to come home.
No one likes fighting and war is he!l, but do you want another 9/11? Surrender? As far as I'm concerned, I would rather die in the desert than turn tail and run home.

I don't understand the liberal=surrender nonsense. I'm not really a liberal myself, but I am on yahoo answers because of the yahoos that say liberals=surrender. ugh!
But to get to your question. I think we should be fighting the Shiites. But we also fight the Sunnis. Don't we supply them both with guns? The Shiites are the bad guys, the Sunnis can coexist. I think. Wait no, we're fighting al Qaida now that they are in Iraq. Yeah, terrorists. Insurgents? What is an insurgent?

We are fighting Iraqis, contrary to the propaganda from the USA Media.
I know it's a little too much for some to understand, but the Iraqis don't wanna be occupied.
There are some foreign fighters in Iraq, they are mostly American.
The other foreign fighters are few in number, and are pretty insignificant compared to the many Iraqis who want the USA to leave.
There will be no peace in Iraq until the Americans leave, but maybe the leaders of the USA don't want peace, maybe they want a perpertual war, like the one in palestine.

Everybody apparently. At least if you listen to the constant and continuing redefinitions of why we are in Iraq and why we must remain until the job is done. Don't you know there is terrorist hiding behind every bush just waiting for us to leave. Or maybe it's those pesky insurgents (aka the Iraqi people) who seem to me to just want to be able to define for themselves what type of country they will live in. No wait it might be the Iranians or Syrians who are secretly slipping over the borders to fan the fires. I am waiting for them to tie in the North Koreans somehow. The question is not who are we fighting, but rather what are we fighting? The answer is common sense and we are losing.

We are fighting angry Iraqis frustrated at the occupation of their country by a foreign military. There are hardly any "real" terrorists in Iraq besides the small amount of al-Qaeda operatives in the country.

We are fighting primarily outsiders and insurgents. Our main goal is to help the Iraqi government rebuild and protect it's citizens. Boy aren't we just evil!
