is a CAT5e ethernet cable the same as a dsl cable
the plug on the cord from my modem from to my computer is bigger the the plug on the phone line

yes...

all eternet cable is either cat 5 or cat 5e.....

cat5 is old.... for 10/100
cat5e supports 10/100/1000

Your cat5 cable goes from the Ethernet card in your PC to the Ethernet (WAN) port on the DSL modem. The DSL modem uses the same cable you use to with a telephone to connect to the telephone jack.

A DSL cable is a normal phone line, while CAT5e is an ethernet cable. Phone line have 4 wires (RJ11), while Ethernet cables have 8 wires (RJ45).

So NO, they're are not the same.

simply put, it depends... if you're using a modem or a router, then the ethernet cable will not be your dsl cable... but if you're not using a modem or a router, and you have a dsl jack on the wall, then that cable will be your dsl cable...

so the answer is yes

yes, same old same old.
next time though, buy one at lowes or home depot, they are cheap there.
like 2 bucks for a 3ft and 4 bucks for a 6 ft. plus, they have a guarantee
