It would be fair to say that the majority of MLB players are on a weight training program.

I don't really know the answer to the question, but I would think the answer is "Not too many." Unlike some other sports, baseball is not, for the most part, a game of strength. It is a game of speed, coordination, and some power. But sheer strength is not a major factor. I would think those that lift weights only lift small weights to tone up and target certain areas only. They need to remain flexible more than be strong.

As much money as there is in baseball you can guarantee they have gyms right next to the locker rooms so that even when they are on the road they can be lifting weights, on the tred mill, or sitting in the hot tub to relax strained muscles. And it's obvious they lift wieghts, stand by one of them and see how cut they are, you don't get that way by playing baseball alone. Even if you play every day for 182 days (you get the idea).

I really feel like I'm the only girl who doesn't get the whole Ellsbury love. I think he looks like he's 12 years old. Anywho, here's my list of hot players: Grady Sizemore is number one! Scott Kazmir Evan Longoria Zack Greinke Joe Mauer Justin Morneau Chase Utley David Wright Barry Zito Ian Kinsler Ian Stewart Ryan Braun That's just to name a few lol. That's the best part about being a female sports fan. You can genuinely like the game and understand it, but you have the added perks of finding cute players.

I think they train different in the offseason than during the regular season. When do they have time to lift weights? Spring training starts in FEB/MARCH and then you have a regular season that goes until the end September. They are on the road playing baseball from March until August. I beliebe they train and condition using light weights, but not like the football players do.

They all work out and use weights as a part of their strength programs. The old tale of the bigger you are the less likely that you'll be flexible enough to get around on an inside fastball are long gone!

no

ALLLLLL MLB players lift weights. its a necessity to lift weights, even if it isnt for muscle gain

most lift (since baseball isnt really a sport dominated by pure strength) to get cut, lean muscle and lose excess fat

ARod went from being 6% body fat to 3% body fat this offseason because of dieting, excessive training and lifting weights!

I know most pitcher don't because it restricts the muscles, making it harder to throw the ball. Most hitters do lift.
